Obituary for John McLean

John W. McLean was born April 17, 1950 to the late Joe and
Ethel Q. McLean in Laurinburg, North Carolina. He departed
this earthly life on December 8, 2017 at Cape Fear Valley
Medical Center, Fayetteville, North Carolina.
He graduated from Laurinburg Institute Private School and
later enlisted in the Unites States Army.

John was hospitalized at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for
about six months where he met Betty, his nurse/caregiver. She
helped nourish him back to health and they later fell in love,
and shortly after they were married and began to raise their
family together.

John was a dump truck driver and was employed by a few
companies. Music was his life. He loved old school one of
all-time favorite songs were “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”
he would play that song and dance in the middle of the floor,
even though he wasn’t a dancer he gave his all. He was really
good with his four sons whom he adored.
John was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild; and
four sisters.

John leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted
wife, Betty J. McLean of Fayetteville, NC; four sons, William
Dixon (Carol) of Stafford, VA, Otaga Lamar McLean, Travis
Joe McLean (Shanee) and John Wilton, Jr. (Joann) all of
Woodbridge,VA; two sisters, Elizabeth Poe Allen of Crew, VA
and Gwendolyn Loftin of Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren;
and a host of other family members, nieces and nephews.
